Dr. Sally Eccleston

I’m here to help individuals, groups and schools to navigate challenges by strengthening the mind and body connection as well as improving understanding of barriers to wellbeing, including trauma and mental health difficulties.

Therapy, Yoga, Retreats, Educational Psychology Support and Specialised Offerings for Individuals, Schools and Organisations.

Hi! I’m Sally.

I know that reaching out for help is really tricky. You took the first step - welcome! I combine my decade of knowledge and experience as a psychologist, in education and as a highly trained yoga teacher to support you in your journey.

I strongly believe that including the body in therapeutic approaches and combining psychology and embodiment can create real and long-lasting change in education and mental health both at the individual and system level. I offer somatic therapy as a tool for recovery from trauma, and as a tool for wellbeing and discovery.

We cannot solve everything in the mind. We also need tools from holistic wellbeing as well as Western science to help us to understand the complexities of being human. Movement, healing, deep rest, and the language of the body is also our truth. But we disconnect from what can guide us towards a deeper sense of wellbeing because we forget. We seek quick and easy solutions because of the challenges in everyday life, and we forget that it’s OK to ask for help with complex issues, whether as an individual or an organisation.

I can help you to understand better and work with what is really going on, whether for you, your child(ren) or a child you are professionally involved with at school. I hold professional accreditation as a psychologist, I am trained in somatic therapy, and I have undergone many specialist trainings in embodiment and yoga. Now it’s time to help you!

I have been on this journey of self-discovery myself and my personal journey feeds my professional journey. I found yoga and meditation in my early 20s, in the early days of my study in psychology, which then took me on a deep and powerful journey to the reconnection to my body and to movement as my truth, after years of mental health difficulties including diagnosed depression, low self-esteem and confidence and body shame.

After a decade of work, study and practice as a yoga student and teacher and as a registered psychologist, I now work with adults as well as young people and schools, and offer specialist online and in-person coaching and therapy, as well as group classes and events in the Stockport and High Peak areas. I am registered with the Health Care Professions Council as a practitioner psychologist, and has a deep passion for working with the mind and body connection, with over 300 hours of training as a yoga teacher.

What are people saying about working with me?

I had a 1-2-1 session with Sally, who I found so approachable and warm. I felt at ease straight away. I was given some postures, breathing exercises and grounding techniques which I have been using frequently to help with my anxiety. These have been valuable tools for me, and I can not recommend Sally enough. I look forward to learning more.

Without a doubt one of the best decisions I ever made was to come to one of Sally’s classes. Sally offers a safe space, free from all judgement and so welcoming. I can honestly say that Sally’s teachings have changed my life both physically and mentally, and I am so grateful. I cannot recommend working with Sally enough, she is a beautiful soul and a knowledgeable teacher

I cannot recommend this retreat highly enough. If you are looking for healing and peace within a completely safe space - this is it. Sally’s practices consist of partly movement, partly yoga, partly meditation and partly a touch of absolute magic. Every single one of us let something go, and felt a real sense of inner peace by the end of the weekend.
