Morning Ritual

We know that self-care is important at the minute.. and we know that how we spend our first hour awake tends to frame the rest of the day.. but sometimes we set ourselves big expectations for a morning ritual and actually what we end up doing is shaming ourselves or feeling guilty when it doesn’t happen. So personally I need something realistic. Inspired by Aubrey Marcus and Claire Missingham I make sure every day that within every first hour of my day I:

1. Hydrate

With two glasses of warm water with lemon, a bit of salt and apple cider vinegar.

2. Get outside

Especially at the minute!! ☀️ Getting the sun on your face is great for resetting our circadian rhythm and generally helps us to feel more alive

3. Meditate

Sometimes I sit, sometimes I pray, sometimes I breathe. Whatever it is, I’m with myself

4. Move my ass!

Even if it’s not an extended workout or yoga practice.. a bit of shaking or jumping.. a short yoga practice or qi gong or whatever I feel like on the day really

5. Have a shower with body brushing

Still can’t quite brave a full on freezing shower .. I’m certain it’s great for you and I’m warming (or freezing?) my way up to it.. but I do turn the shower from hot to cold at the end. I’ve realised how easy it is at the minute to not shower and sling back on the same clothes as you wore a few days ago (just me?) Gross but it’s true!! It makes such a difference to your energy and body brushing is great for circulation.

Hydration. Light. Sit. Movement. Wash.
Set the tone for the entire day.

I would love to hear your morning practices!
