Yoga for Stress Relief with Sally

A beginner-friendly course for calming the body and mind

Feeling overwhelmed or constantly on edge? This course offers simple, effective tools to support your nervous system and help you move from stress and overload to greater clarity, calm, and relaxation.

Through gentle, somatic-based practices drawn from Yin Yoga, Somatics, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, you’ll learn how to release deep tension in the body and restore balance. These practices work on the soft tissues to encourage emotional release, ease physical holding patterns, and support the healthy flow of energy throughout your whole system.

Join us to discover how small, mindful movements can bring big shifts in how you feel - physically, mentally, and emotionally.

This is for you if...

  • You’ve been told yoga might help, but you’re not sure where to begin.

  • Life feels overwhelming, and you’re craving a quiet, gentle hour just for yourself each week.

  • You’ve tried yoga - online or in-person - but find it hard to stick with a regular practice.

  • You’re specifically looking to reduce stress and deeply relax your body and mind.

What to Expect

This course offers slow, grounding practices designed to support your nervous system and overall wellbeing. We’ll explore gentle, longer-held postures along with other mindful techniques that promote deep rest, emotional release, and energetic balance.

Rooted in Yin Yoga, Somatics, and Traditional Chinese Medicine, each class stimulates the meridian (energy) channels of the body - restoring flow, releasing blockages, and encouraging deep inner healing. This meditative approach invites you to tune into your body’s sensations and your mental landscape with compassion and awareness.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Breathe fully and consciously

  • Stretch and nourish tissues that are often neglected

  • Create space in both body and mind

  • Sit with your thoughts without judgment

Inspired by ancient Taoist principles, this practice sees the body as a network of energy pathways (Qi). By softening into poses, we allow that energy to move freely again - supporting physical, emotional, and mental balance.

In today’s fast-paced world - whether you’re running errands, juggling meetings, or constantly on the go - this slower, more introspective practice offers a much-needed counterbalance. It’s not just about stretching; it’s about coming home to yourself, exactly as you are.

I really enjoy Sally’s yoga classes at Riverside in Whaley Bridge. They are such a gorgeous mix of breath work, meditation and movement and are the perfect mid-week reset. The space there is so cosy and welcoming and she creates a really lovely, calming atmosphere. Her Sunday self care classes are also fantastic. Would highly recommend if you need more yoga in your life.
— Sarah Kenny
I’ve taken both Shake the Dust and Yin Yoga with Sally and found her classes to be approachable, emotionally powerful, effective, fun, and safe (her qualifications are really impressive, and it shows in her cues). Sally holds space warmly for everyone and makes all feel welcome. I’m really glad I found her
— Monica Westin
Ive been going to Sallys classes for about a year now and still get the same enjoyment and therapy from going each week.
As someone who struggles with their joints/muscles/movement for medical reasons Sally always gives adaptions or options if I can’t quite manage certain things without being judgemental and also makes you feel inclusive.
Even my consultant is encouraged to see the range of movement I’ve managed to maintain through certain flare ups.
Apart from the physical side it helps mentally - giving you space for you to just “be” and breathe/relax and make time for yourself.
Will always recommend Sallys classes as a safe space to come to and practice
— Judy Whittaker
Absolutely love this class. Taken me a little bit out of my comfort zone....but In a good way. I always sleep well after class❤️
— Karen Johnson
Sally is warm and welcoming and her classes are inclusive and non judgemental as well as varied and fun. She is encouraging and intuitive in her approach and there is always something for everyone in class. The space at Riverside is perfect for yoga classes and I’ve really felt the benefits of stretches, breathwork and learning to meditate on both my physical and mental wellbeing. I feel stronger and more flexible than before and at the end of a class feel both energised yet calm. I have the best night of sleep of the week after yoga on Mondays!
I love the soundtracks that accompany and inspire our practice, too.

Would highly recommend - it’s been the best thing I’ve done for myself this year.

A journey of transformation, presence, and embodied awareness

Join us each week to explore practices that awaken the wisdom of your body and support deep wellbeing. This is more than a yoga class - it’s a space to slow down, reconnect, and move with intention.

Each session offers a unique focus, blending yoga, somatic movement, and mindfulness. You’ll experience a range of practices - from gentle stretches that ease tension, to breathwork that soothes the nervous system, to meditative movement that grounds you in presence.

Expect a slow-flowing Vinyasa with depth. Rooted in the philosophy of Tantra, Somatics, and Embodiment, this class weaves together:

  • Intuitive movement & asana

  • Fluid-state activation

  • Elemental embodiment

  • Non-dual awareness

  • Soundscapes & stillness

You’ll be invited to sense, feel, and move from within, accessing the body's innate capacity for self-healing and insight. As you attune to your own rhythms and sensations, you may uncover emotional clarity, spaciousness, connection, and a renewed sense of agency and self-trust.

This practice is for anyone seeking more than just physical movement - it’s for those ready to reclaim their body as a source of wisdom, resilience, and love.

What are others saying?

Sally’s teachings are helping me get back in touch with my body and heal energy that is no longer serving me. The practice is kind and challenging and I always feel better after it. I would highly recommend Sally’s classes and her teachings to move stuck energy and focus on your general wellbeing.
— Lynsey Halligan
Sally is such a passionate and knowledgeable teacher and brings something different to her yoga classes. She has expansive knowledge across many different disciplines which I find fascinating. I always come away having learnt something new. I have attended some workshops and started to more regularly attend her evening class at Riverside Wellbeing in Whaley Bridge. The space is always so pretty, welcoming and smells beautiful. It’s lovely to feel transcended to a different dimension, in a good way :-)
— Sally Rivers
Without a doubt one of the best decisions I ever made was to come to one of Sally’s classes. Sally offers a safe space, free from all judgement and so welcoming. I can honestly say that Sally’s teachings have changed my life both physically and mentally, and I am so grateful. I cannot recommend working with Sally enough, she is a beautiful soul and a knowledgeable teacher.
— Emma Wilson
I chose to book onto Sally’s course so that I could use the 8 week block of classes as an anchor point, at a time when every aspect of my life was providing me with challenge and uncertainty. What I gained from doing so was well beyond my expectations. I have attended many yoga classes in the past; Vinyasa, Iyenga, Ashtanga, Hatha, and Yin. All of which provided me with insight and growth, but nothing on the scale of what I gained from my classes with Sally.
Sally is clearly a well educated therapeutic practitioner who invests a lot of herself into understanding and practicing techniques that are good for the body, mind and soul to heal. Every single week I came out of the class feeling like I had reconnected to my own body and inner knowing. I realigned with my true self, which led to an improvement in my decision making, my authenticity outside of the yoga space, and feeling confident and assertive in ways that have felt new to me. Before I started the course, I felt as though I was swimming in stormy waters of uncertainty, just well enough to keep my lips to the surface for air. It was as though Sally came along with a terrific boat, told me to pull myself on to it, and taught me how to sail back to my inner knowing.
Sally uses techniques I have never experienced before but I could sense how much my body loved them, especially the heal tapping. There were plentiful opportunities to listen to your body and move freely, something that I resisted initially but quickly came to love.
Sally incorporates the seasons, the moon, hindu god mantras, song, and much more to help us counteract the habitual behaviours and mental cycles we find ourselves stuck in. This class was one of the most liberating and important experiences of my life, and I will be back again.
— Dee Ashcroft
This is the most amazing yoga session…so different. Body and soul boost!
