FAQ
Frequently asked questions - yoga and classes
Thank you so much for your interest in practising with me. I’m always so happy to welcome new faces and familiar ones returning into our community. Whether you’re taking your very first step onto the mat, looking to deepen your practice, or simply carving out some time to rest and reconnect, there’s a space here for you.
Each of my classes offers something a little different, from gentle restorative sessions to more intuitive flowing practices, so you can find the one that meets you exactly where you are on your journey. I’ve put together some common questions below to help you decide which class might feel like the right fit.
If you have any questions not answered here, please do not hesitate to get in touch. No question is silly!
I'm not flexible - can I do yoga?
Yes! You’re actually the perfect candidate. Many people think they need to be flexible before starting yoga, but that’s like thinking you need to know how to play tennis before taking tennis lessons. Come as you are – yoga will help you develop flexibility in body, mind, and spirit. Along the way, you’ll also build strength, coordination, and a sense of confidence and overall wellbeing. I offer adaptations and options for many postures so you can practice safely in line with your body’s needs. Always inform me in advance about any injuries or constraints, so I can tailor guidance during class..
I'm not fit - can I do yoga?
Absolutely. No particular level of fitness is required. Whether you’re a complete beginner or already active, yoga can benefit everyone. My classes are welcoming and adapted to suit different needs and abilities.
Which class should I join if I’m new to yoga?
If you’re new to yoga or returning after a long break, Yoga for Stress Relief is a great starting point. It’s beginner-friendly and focuses on gentle, grounding practices to calm the body and mind (rooted in Yin, Somatics, etc.).
What should I bring to class?
Just bring yourself, a bottle of water, and wear comfortable clothing (see below). All equipment is provided.
What should I wear?
Wear whatever you feel comfortable moving in. Some people prefer loose, baggy clothes; others like fitted, stretchy leggings and tops. Layers are helpful – you’ll warm up during movement and cool down during relaxation. A jumper, socks, or even a small blanket can make the final relaxation more comfortable.
Do I need a yoga mat?
All equipment, including mats, is provided. You're welcome to bring your own if you prefer. If you’d like to practice at home, investing in your own mat is a great idea – I’d be happy to recommend some options.
When should I eat before a class?
Everyone’s different, but in general, avoid large meals within two hours of class. If you need something closer to class time, stick to a light, easily digested snack. Try to arrive well-hydrated.
How do I pay for classes?
Please visit https://www.wellnesswithsally.com/yogaclasses to view class options and book yourself on. Booking before class is essential. Or please email me sally@wellnesswithsally.com
What is “Embodied Awakening / Yoga & Somatic Movement”?
This class is a more fluid, intuitive, in depth, practice combining yoga, somatic movement, mindfulness, intuitive flow, stillness, and soundscapes. It’s suited for people who want more depth, movement, flow, and internal exploration than a purely restorative or slow class.
Why do I need to book a block of classes?
Booking a block helps you build consistency, which is where the real benefits of yoga start to show. It also secures your place, as classes are limited in size. If you miss a class, I’ll do my best to offer you a space in another session during the same block or carry it over when possible – just contact me.
What if I can't make a whole block of classes?
No problem. If you’d like to join partway through or know you’ll miss a few sessions, just get in touch and we’ll arrange something that works for you. If you book a block, you can mix and match - so if there are two Wednesdays you cannot make for example, you can come on a Tuesday, Thursday or Friday instead!
Can I drop in to class?
Yes! You are welcome to drop in to the Friday morning class at Spring Bank Arts.
Drop-ins may also be available in other classes if space allows – please contact me to check availability.
What type of yoga do you teach?
I teach two styles of yoga, all with a trauma-aware, body-led approach that supports nervous system regulation and mind-body connection:
Authentic Flow: A breath-led, flowing practice with slow, intentional movement to build strength, stability, and awareness. The focus is on feeling from within rather than achieving perfect shapes.
Embodied Yin Yoga: A slower practice that works with the deep connective tissues of the body. Poses are held for several minutes to support stillness, reflection, and emotional release.
All classes are invitational, accessible, and suitable for a wide range of bodies and experiences. Whether you're looking for strength, rest, balance or emotional support, there’s something for you.

How is yoga different from stretching, or other kinds of fitness?
Yoga is more than physical exercise. While it does improve strength, flexibility, and balance, it also connects movement with breath, calms the nervous system, and helps you tune into your body and mind. It’s a holistic practice that can support your emotional wellbeing, mental clarity, and sense of inner calm.
What is yoga?
Yoga is an ancient practice from India that integrates movement, breath, and stillness to enhance wellbeing. While rooted in tradition, my approach is modern, inclusive, and designed to be accessible for everyone – regardless of age, background, or ability.

Upon booking a session you are agreeing to attend that session. All attendees are expected to arrive at least 5 minutes before the session is due to start, as once the start time passes, entry may not be possible. By booking, you are agreeing to arrive before the session is due to start so we can begin on time. Late arrivals will not be permitted entry. If the venue is new to you, or you are not sure where you’re going, leave extra time in your journey or check out the route beforehand.
Below you will find the policies in place for the various events and classes I offer.

If you cancel more than 48 hours before your private session starting you are entitled to transfer your booking to another suitable date.
If you cancel with less than 48 hours notice your booking cannot be transferred and no refund will be given.
Weekly classes
If you cancel more than 12 hours before the class starts you are entitled to a class credit on your account, or your booking moved to a different date. PLEASE EMAIL ME at sally@wellnesswithsally.com TO CANCEL OR MOVE YOUR BOOKING, as the system will cancel your booking without crediting you back.
