Returning to What Is Sacred

An invitation to pause between the seasons and remember the sacred that already lives within you.

As autumn fades and winter begins to stir, nature invites us into a quieter rhythm. The air feels sharper, the light softer, and the days seem to fold in on themselves a little earlier each evening.

This is a sacred time of year, a natural bridge between seasons where we are invited to pause, exhale and come home to ourselves.

In the fast pace of modern life, it is easy to lose touch with what truly matters. Non-dual Tantra reminds us of something ancient yet urgently relevant: life is already sacred, not because of what we do, but because of what we are.

Remembering what sacred really means

The sacred is not something distant or reserved for rare moments of peace. It already lives within and around us, waiting to be noticed. It exists in the warmth of your morning tea, the sound of your child’s laughter, the stillness of a foggy morning walk. It is found in the everyday moments we so often overlook, even in the mess, the noise and the imperfection. When we begin to notice the sacred in these simple moments, life starts to feel softer, slower and more alive.

The shift between seasons

The move from autumn to winter mirrors the same transition we experience within ourselves. Autumn is the season of letting go, while winter asks for stillness and trust. This time in between is tender. It is neither one nor the other, a liminal space where the body instinctively begins to slow down but the mind may still be caught in motion. Somatic practice helps us meet this threshold with care. Through gentle movement, breath and awareness, we can soothe the body’s natural urge to rush and create space to listen. When we do, we begin to rediscover a sense of safety and connection, the quiet sacred that lives beneath the surface of our busy lives.

Finding the sacred through the body

In somatic therapy and yoga, we do not seek to escape the world or bypass discomfort. Instead, we bring compassionate awareness to whatever arises. This is tantra in action, embracing all of life, even the parts we usually try to fix or push away. Through movement and presence, we return to our body as a sacred space, a living reminder that we are already whole.

A gentle practice for this time of year

Take a moment this week to pause. Sit quietly, perhaps by a window, wrapped in a blanket or cupping a warm drink. Feel the weight of your body being held by the chair beneath you.

Place your hand on your heart and notice the rhythm there. Let your breath deepen. Ask softly:

What would it feel like to live as though this moment is already sacred?”

You do not need to change anything. Simply notice what shifts when you remember.

As the year slows and the world turns inward, may you find moments of stillness among the noise.

The sacred is not hidden in rituals or rare occasions. It is here, in the space between breaths, in the light that filters through bare branches, and in the gentle awareness that you are part of it all.
