Helping you to get present and awaken to the magic of your body

Yin Yoga & Meditation

Tuesdays, 6-7pm, starts on 16th April

Low Leighton Methodist Church, New Mills, SK22 4HG

All props are provided and on street parking is available - you only need to bring yourself!

In Yin Yoga we create gentle (sometimes more dynamic) long held postures and practices with an attitude of Maitri, loving kindness. The poses stimulate energy flow in meridians, energy channels, and restore, rewire and replenish our nervous system. While “yang” yoga focuses on your muscles, yin yoga targets your deep connective tissues, like your fascia, ligaments, joints, and bones. It’s slower and more meditative, giving you space to turn inward and tune into both your mind and the physical sensations of your body. Because you’re holding poses for a longer period of time than you would in other traditional types of yoga, yin yoga helps you stretch and lengthen those rarely-used tissues while also teaching you how to breathe through discomfort and sit with your thoughts.

The practice of yin yoga is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and Taoist principles which believe there are pathways of Qi (energy) that run through our bodies. By stretching and deepening into poses, we’re opening up any blockages and releasing that energy to flow freely.

Many of us live fast-paced, active lives, whether we’re going for a run, powering through several Zoom meetings, or sweating it out on our bike. Yin yoga is the perfect balance to those intense exercises, providing a slower, more meditative counterpart to help you round out your workouts. During these Yang infused times, Yin, and the rebalancing of YinYang dynamics, help us to stop, reset and respond as we start again.

My embodied approach to yin yoga invites us to explore our multidimensional capacities for healing by listening and sensing with the whole body-mind. It increases awareness of our mind-body connection in each dimension and through different somatic approaches, intuitive movement, classical nondual Tantra, Chinese medicine and Yin yoga, opens up space by helping to release limitations.

Yoga and Embodied Movement for all

Wednesdays 6.15-7.30pm, starts back on 17th April

Riverside Wellbeing, Whaley Bridge, 1 Market Street, Whaley Bridge, High Peak, SK23 7AA

The perfect mid week pause, you will leave this calming class feeling refreshed and relaxed.

Your embodied slow flow practice is designed to held you build and regain strength as well as grow greater flexibility with dynamic and fluid stretches. We intersperse some traditional sequences, such as variations of sun salutations but we also include some more non-traditional sequences to build strength and also to promote good circulation of energy around the body. This class always involves the chance to experience a flowing sequence of yoga postures coordinated with the movement of the breath as well as some seated meditation. Flow creatively from one position to the next with movements subtly linked by your breath - a sure way to take you out of your head and into your body whilst building muscle strength and flexibility. Expect to find a combination of standing, balancing and seated postures, some pranayama (breath work) and challenging sections, but with options and modifications offered for all abilities, as well as opportunities to learn about yoga philosophy, the bridge between science and spirituality and much much more.

This is the most amazing yoga session…so different. Body and soul boost!.
— Lorrie Marchington
Would thoroughly recommend this class- great for just concentrating & reconnecting with yourself
& its not an intense “get this pose correct”
Sally is great at showing different ways of what you can achieve when your body isn’t quite capable(I have multi joint arthritis) and still able to participate

Mama & Babies Wellbeing Circle

Orange Bloom Yoga Studio, 18 Buxton Road, Hazel Grove

Please get in touch to enquire

A space for mums to come and have some space for themselves as well as meet other like minded mamas and babies. Come and find your tribe! We know how hard it is to get out of the house, let alone find a yoga or gym class you can go to, so if you're looking to start or continue your yoga practice then this class is for you. Beginners are totally welcome.

This class is inspired by what has been super important for my own health and wellbeing in these early months of mamahood, a space where new mums can come which is for them, a space to continue/start a yoga practice, recognising and celebrating new bodies which have birthed our babies and take up to 2 years to fully heal, and most importantly a space mums can bring babies to rather than worrying about being apart and everything that involves, which isn't a baby class!

We'll start with a check in sharing circle (all of that pent up emotion as a new mama needs to go somewhere!), practice some yoga and to end a hot drink and biscuits are included. Babies absolutely love watching their mamas move, and there will be some opportunities to include them in the movement, or babies can stay on your mat, beside you and always in your line of sight! Toys will be provided; you may just be surprised about the benefits for both you and baby, when you’re relaxed, chilled and taking a bit of time for you then your baby will absolutely notice that.

6 consecutive weeks are included in your purchase. If you can’t make one or two weeks, or you want to book as a drop in, please send me a message. All mats and props are included so please just bring yourself and your beautiful baby. Don't worry if you're running late, or if you need to feed or change during the class, we totally understand, this is a baby led class please do still come in if you're running late. Feeding, crying, and all those things that babies are going to do are all welcome!

This is not a baby yoga class, this is designed for mums who struggle to get to a yoga class and would like to bring their little ones with them. The practice will be designed for post-natal mamas; movement with a post-natal healing focus.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have given birth recently, please wait until your postnatal check with your GP to start exercise. General NHS advice is 6 weeks for a vaginal birth & 12 weeks for a C-section or birth with complications. However there is NO RUSH; rest is extremely important after birth and into the fourth trimester...So depending on your birth I advise checking in with your intuition and beginning when you feel ready. (Speak to your midwife/health visitor/doctor if you’re unsure)

What are others saying?

Without a doubt one of the best decisions I ever made was to come to one of Sally’s classes. Sally offers a safe space, free from all judgement and so welcoming. I can honestly say that Sally’s teachings have changed my life both physically and mentally, and I am so grateful. I cannot recommend working with Sally enough, she is a beautiful soul and a knowledgeable teacher.
— Emma Wilson
Sally is warm and welcoming and her classes are inclusive and non judgemental as well as varied and fun. She is encouraging and intuitive in her approach and there is always something for everyone in class. The space at Riverside is perfect for yoga classes and I’ve really felt the benefits of stretches, breathwork and learning to meditate on both my physical and mental wellbeing. I feel stronger and more flexible than before and at the end of a class feel both energised yet calm. I have the best night of sleep of the week after yoga on Mondays!
I love the soundtracks that accompany and inspire our practice, too.

Would highly recommend - it’s been the best thing I’ve done for myself this year.
— Tracy Grundy
I chose to book onto Sally’s course so that I could use the 8 week block of classes as an anchor point, at a time when every aspect of my life was providing me with challenge and uncertainty. What I gained from doing so was well beyond my expectations. I have attended many yoga classes in the past; Vinyasa, Iyenga, Ashtanga, Hatha, and Yin. All of which provided me with insight and growth, but nothing on the scale of what I gained from my classes with Sally.
Sally is clearly a well educated therapeutic practitioner who invests a lot of herself into understanding and practicing techniques that are good for the body, mind and soul to heal. Every single week I came out of the class feeling like I had reconnected to my own body and inner knowing. I realigned with my true self, which led to an improvement in my decision making, my authenticity outside of the yoga space, and feeling confident and assertive in ways that have felt new to me.
Before I started the course, I felt as though I was swimming in stormy waters of uncertainty, just well enough to keep my lips to the surface for air. It was as though Sally came along with a terrific boat, told me to pull myself on to it, and taught me how to sail back to my inner knowing.
Sally uses techniques I have never experienced before but I could sense how much my body loved them, especially the heal tapping. There were plentiful opportunities to listen to your body and move freely, something that I resisted initially but quickly came to love.
Sally incorporates the seasons, the moon, hindu god mantras, song, and much more to help us counteract the habitual behaviours and mental cycles we find ourselves stuck in. This class was one of the most liberating and important experiences of my life, and I will be back again.
— Dee Ashcroft
Sally has an amazing style, teaching in a way that is inclusive and accessible to everyone. Each class explores a different approach. The classes are both energising and fun and help to clear the mind and nourish the body, and Sally has a great sound track
— Teresa Butler
Ive been going to Sallys classes for about a year now and still get the same enjoyment and therapy from going each week.
As someone who struggles with their joints/muscles/movement for medical reasons Sally always gives adaptions or options if I can’t quite manage certain things without being judgemental and also makes you feel inclusive.
Even my consultant is encouraged to see the range of movement I’ve managed to maintain through certain flare ups.
Apart from the physical side it helps mentally - giving you space for you to just “be” and breathe/relax and make time for yourself.
Will always recommend Sallys classes as a safe space to come to and practice
